  2. The Spade Suit IS ALWAYS TRUMP!
  3. There are NO Wild CARDS! A 2 is a 2
  4. 2 of Clubs and 2 of Diamonds are removed.
  5. Spades can be played at ANY TIME!
  6. 2 sets equals an automatic lose

  8. A Card Laid is a Card Played
  9. If a team is caught reneging, then they must give 3 tricks/books to the other team. When a card hits the table and you are no longer touching it, you MAY NOT pick it up, unless it will force you to renege. However, you must do this before the book is COMPLETELY CLOSED. The Book is completely closed when the book has been picked up and laid facedown and released by the team collecting the book. If the book has not been laid facedown and released it is NOT CLOSED.
  10. Any protest or rule clarification should be directed to the Tournament Director and his decision is final.
  11. Anything questions not listed in these rules should be addressed to the Tournament Director and a a decision will be made.

THE DEAL

The first dealer is chosen by a draw for high card, and thereafter the turn to deal proceeds clockwise. The entire deck is dealt one at a time, face down, beginning on the dealer's left.

NO CARDS MAY BE DEALT OUT OF TURN.

You may not flip a Card during the deal for a Spades Check. This will result in a misdeal and you turn to deal will be forfeited.

THE BIDDING

Each player decides how many tricks they will be able to take. The player to the dealer's left starts the bidding and, in turn, each player states how many tricks they expect to win. There is only one round of bidding, and the minimum team bid is four (board). Every player must make a bid; no player may pass.

Example: Player 1 states their books (tricks),

Player 2 states their books

Player 3 states books and Bids

Player 4 (Dealer) states books and Bids

There will be NO BACK AND FORTH BIDDING!

Challenging a Renege

Reneging ¢?? when a player fails to play the suit of the led card and later throws

that same suit. (Example: Hearts are led, player A throws a spade to win the

trick. Later, player A throws a heart. Player A has Reneged.

When a player challenges the other team for reneging, they must alert the Tournament Director. The director will come to the table and observe the challenge.

The team that has been challenged will flip over their tricks. If there is a renege, that team will lose 3 tricks. If there is no renege the team who called the renege will lose 3 tricks

A TEAM DOES NOT HAVE TO PICK THE EXACT TRICK/BOOK WHEN CALLING A RENEGE!

Definitions and Terminology:

Trick ¢?? refers to taking or winning one hand or Book

Bid ¢?? A player chooses the number of tricks (books) that he/she will win.

Bags ¢?? Number of extra tricks a team takes over their total bid. We are not counting bags. (Example: a team bids 5 tricks total, but wins 7: result is 2 bags)

Set - When a team fails to win enough tricks to reach its total bid

Nil ¢?? If one player says ¢??nil¢??, that player has looked at his/her cards and has

decided that he/she will not take any tricks.
